Feel The Fear & Do It Anyway

Soooo we all know exercise is so good for us not just physically but mentally too. It is such a huge part of what we do at The Feel Fabulous Project and this month’s focus for all of our VIP members is to encourage them to exercise and find the love for it. Everyone is different so there is a not a one size fits all when it comes down to working out.

I’ve heard it so many times, I really don’t like exercise, I can’t do it or I’m not fit enough. My answer to this is ‘no you don’t you just haven’t found an exercise that you love yet’ There are hundreds and hundreds of different exercises out there from team sports, gym classes, outdoor bootcamps, karate, yoga, pilates, running…. The list literally goes on… And the benefits are also endless.

Here are my 5 top reasons of why I believe you should exercise:

1. Boosts your confidence and self esteem

Once you start to exercise regularly, you start to feel good about your progress, and the results that you start to see. This isn’t always necessarily about weight loss either, it’s all about those small milestones that you reach. Like running your first 10k, lifting the heaviest weight, or trying a new exercise that makes you feel good and something that you should feel so proud about. It’s a great sense of achievement, alongside the sense of pride that you feel with your ever improving physique – what a winning combo!

2. Helps you de-stress

We all lead such busy lives nowadays, so exercise is a great tool to use to release any tension or stress that you feel. Many people use it as their therapy (including me) and it’s no wonder why. As we exercise our body release endorphins or ‘feel good’ hormones that help improve our mood and reduce stress/tension

3. You’ll have more energy

This may sound far fetched as we all know how we can sometimes feel after a hard workout – worn out! However it is proven that if you exercise regularly, you will feel more energised throughout the day.

4. Lowers your risk for disease and improves your physical health

Exercise has been proven to be one of the best things you can do to keep your heart healthy, reducing the risk of developing strokes, heart disease , cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, cancer and many more. Not only that but it keeps your muscles, bones and joints strong, and helps maintain your weight too!

5. Be a good role model

With obesity on the rise in adults and childhood, it is a serious problem in the UK and has been for a long time. Exercising regularly has so many benefits and what a great way to inspire and encourage your loved ones around you by sticking to it. Particularly now with children’s school gym time being reduced and screen time on the rise – in this generation it is so important that you become your child’s fitness role models. Lead the way for the whole family!

So what are you waiting for? Ask yourself ‘ what is really holding you back?’ Exercise is the most underutilised tool in the quest for health and happiness. And yet we still don’t do it?

I used to be crazy for the gym before I had my son. It was all about weights. Squats were life! But my cardio fitness was terrible. And anyone that knows me, knows that running was just not my thing! It was something that I had told myself over and over again – I can’t do it!!

But one day I did the unthinkable – I stepped massively out of my comfort zone, I got out of my own head and went for a run! I had been telling myself for years that I hated running and that I couldn’t do it. Now I’m not saying I love it (yet) – however I am enjoying the milestones that I keep hitting with it. I did my first ever 10k back in April too.

So please if you take anything from reading this let it be that you step outside of your comfort zone this week and try a new exercise or even up the game on your current workout routine. Inspire yourself and motivate those around you. Tell yourself that you don’t hate exercise – you just haven’t found the right one!

Exercise will give you a new lease of life! It really will be the best thing you ever do.

Thank you for reading.
